Position Title: Business Intelligence Architect I or II

Position Purpose:
Business Intelligence Architect I: This position is responsible for the development of business intelligence solutions as a member of a project team. The incumbent utilizes IBM Cognos business intelligence to develop solutions that meet the requirements of our Business Partners and management. Under supervision, the incumbent collaborates with the other members of the business intelligence, business applications, integration, and database teams to develop solutions to meet our customer’s needs. This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position, which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber related assets or systems.
Business Intelligence Architect II: This position is responsible for development of business intelligence solutions as a member of a project team. The incumbent utilizes IBM Cognos business intelligence to develop solutions that meet the requirements of our Business Partners and management. Under supervision, the incumbent collaborates with the other members of the business intelligence, business applications, integration, and database teams to develop solutions to meet our customer’s needs. The incumbent has basic knowledge of metadata modeling strategies, Online Analytical Processing (OLAP) modeling, system administration and installing/configuring business intelligence software. This position is identified as a Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) related position, which may allow physical and/or logical access to Bulk Electric System (BES) cyber-related assets or systems.
Qualifications: Business Intelligence Architect I: To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must possess an entry level knowledge of application development lifecycles and implementation of applications. The incumbent must have an entry level knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL), Extract Transfer and Load (ETL) concepts and relational database concepts. This is acquired through the completion of a two-year degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Engineering Accreditation Commission/Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) accredited Computer Engineering, or related field and three years of related technology industry experience; or a four-year degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, an EAC/ ABET accredited Computer Engineering, or related field and one year of related technology industry experience. The ability to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communications skills, as well as proficiency with personal computers and Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel, are required.
Business Intelligence Architect II: To perform effectively in this position, the incumbent must possess working knowledge of application development lifecycles. The incumbent must have a working knowledge of Business Intelligence concepts, Structured Query Language (SQL), Extract Transfer and Load (ETL) concepts, relational database concepts, OLAP concepts, and Metadata modeling. The incumbent must have knowledge and experience with project management which is acquired through the completion of a two-year degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Engineering Accreditation Commission/Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (EAC/ABET) accredited Computer Engineering, or related field, and six years of related technology industry experience; or a four-year degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, EAC/ABET accredited Computer Engineering, or related field and four years of related technology industry experience. Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands: This position requires frequent sitting and standing/walking; and occasional reaching below and above shoulder level, use of keyboard/computer, bending, kneeling, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds. It also requires finger dexterity and hand coordination. This position requires good hearing and vision, and the ability to speak. It also requires the ability to develop plans, procedures and goals; present information to others; and work under stress to complete projects within deadlines. This position occasionally works in conditions of dirt/dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat/cold, vibration, and noise. This position may be required to operate a motor vehicle or fly in Cooperative or commercial aircraft.
