Battery Structural Engineer with Rivian Automotive, LLC in Irvine, CA. Perform structural analysis for the energy storage system of electric vehicle in the design stage validation to ensure that the structure of components can withstand mfg and operating load cases such as, crash events and random vibration tests for durability requirement, and utilizing finite element methods. Must possess a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in mechanical engineering, structural engineering, or a closely related field and 2 years of experience as an engineer in the automotive industry.

Experience must include: Utilizing the finite element method (fem) to ensure the structure of the components satisfies design, operational, manufacturing and safety requirements; utilizing computer aided engineering (CAE) tools to build & analyze high voltage battery structural models to provide analyses; applying knowledge of solid mechanics, material mechanics, structural analysis, meshing, & mechanical vibrations; working with CAE pre-processing & CAE post-processing tools include, animator, ansa, meta post, and primer; and perform work with linear and nonlinear solvers tools include, ls-Dyna, to aid in crash related analysis, MSC Nastran for shock & random vibration analysis, & Abaqus for nonlinear structural analyses.
