Fender Musical Instruments Corporation in Corona, CA seeks Manufacturing Engineering Director to manage the Manuf. Engr. group within the Fender Operations team based in Corona, CA. Applying engr. & mgmt. principles throughout manuf. engr. processes that support the Corona operation, aligning the engr. statement of work to factory Key Performance Indicators. Develop resource plans that align current projects in the queue & add factory high-priority projects. Manage the engr. team that supports the Corona plant to ensure alignment on project scope, design, control doc’n, quality & schedule. Define resource allocation from factory engr. & manuf. depending on the project scope & work cross-functionally. Planning & executing the projects that enable the factory to safely reach capacity & productivity targets during core production & new product introduction phases. Attract, develop & retain talent for supporting the technical needs of the Corona Operation. Manage & approve internal engr.-owned processes such as BOM & process routing creation in SAP, as well as Standard Work Instructions & process control documents per which the factory builds guitars, basses & amplifiers. Review & prioritize manuf. process advancements in the Fender Factory in Corona, CA. Working with VP of Operations, Advanced Manuf. & R&D in Corona for strategic alignment on new product & new process introduction to ensure product delivery & manuf. efficiency. Standardize manuf. technology readiness plans, automation & other capital deployment, product line transfers & expansions from planning to execution. Influence commonality & the leveraging of technology, methodologies, tools & material strategy for Corona & Ensenada facilities. Partner with the Advanced Manuf., Technology Vendors & other stakeholders to develop & adopt advancements in core material transforming processes such as machining, painting, curing, binding & additive manuf. Collaborate with Operations & Product Development stake-holders to align production needs, capacity & capability with the business plan. Collaborate with cross-functional leaders for creating operation/business analysis & defining capital investment strategies as well as driving continuous strategies for optimal use of resources. Liaise with factory functions, R&D, & Product Development to remove constraints for new product & product feature prototyping & validating. Ensure industrial production compliance with safety & environmental regs. Manage factory analysis & scenario modeling in support of driving optimal production planning & business metric reporting to plant leadership & EVP. Report on Technology Performance & sustaining activities at end of the quarter to inform all key stakeholders at Fender on future projects & investments. Serve as lead & key point of contact for day-to-day manuf. engr. comm’n & future factory technology status, project planning, development & execution. Support analysis & review opportunities for factory core process improvements for all Fender product lines operating in Fender-owned factories, using Lean Six Sigma & SAP manuf. principles. Determine based on Continuous Improvement needed based on Productivity & Quality performance indicators, utilizing Problem Solving, Lean Six Sigma & Process Control methodologies in support of process engr. deliverables. 25% domestic & international travel is required. Req. Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engr., Manuf. Engr., or Industrial Engr. & 5 years of industrial production experience with a Bachelor’s or 3 years of industrial production experience with a Master’s. Must possess 5 years of experience with a Bachelor’s degree or 3 years with a Master’s degree in the following: Leading cross-functional teams in an industrial production environment; Managing product line transfers or technology transfers between different factories or facilities; Projects management on automated production systems from planning to execution; Environmental regulation; Lean Six Sigma & process control principles; & SAP enterprise management software.
