Library Associate - Muscoy
Associate's Degree and Experience required. 
The County Library System is recruiting for a Library Associate for the Muscoy branch, who will oversee and supervise a small branch library and assigned staff, to include evaluating services, conducting staff meetings, and establishing work schedules and assignments. Library Associates further evaluate community needs, and plan and conduct a variety of outreach and special interest programs to encourage library usage. Additional duties include instructing patrons and staff in the use of online resources, providing readers advisory services, assisting patrons in the use of the library collection and services, advising patrons on branch policies and resources, and evaluating and weeding collections for currency of material and condition. 
The resulting eligible list will be used to fill current and future vacancies at the Muscoy Branch only

Note: The Library System has 32 branches throughout the County. This recruitment is for Muscoy only. If you are not interested in employment in Muscoy, you should not apply at this time. Minimum Requirements

Education: An Associate's degree.
Experience: One (1) year of full-time (equivalent) experience in a customer service related industry, such as a library, retail store, restaurant, etc., which involved substantial in-person public contact; working directly with the general public on a constant basis; responding to inquiries, concerns and requests about products and services. Experience must be clearly described on the application.
*Note: Clerical/office experience, or customer service experience obtained in a call-center are not considered qualifying.

Substitution: An additional two (2) years of customer service experience as indicated above may be substituted for 30 semester (45 quarter) units of the required education. 
Substitution: A completed Bachelor's degree may be substituted for six (6) months of the required experience as described above.

Desired Qualifications

The Library System values employees who enjoy working in a high-demand, fast-paced customer service environment with a diverse population of patrons. Experience using computers and cash handling skills are highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have a passion for serving youth; experience creating, implementing, and monitoring a wide array of programs; and possess strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
