Environmental Health Director
Summit County Health Department is recruiting an experienced professional looking to protect the lifestyle we enjoy each day in Summit County. This position requires the performance of a variety of professional, administrative, and complex duties related to the planning, organizing, directing, and controlling of county-wide environmental health programs, services, and regulatory functions. Thorough knowledge is needed for federal and state regulations governing food quality and safety, air and water quality, radiation monitoring, wastewater, and hazardous waste. Considerable knowledge of the nature of various environmental health resources available in rural areas; various funding sources available for environmental health management; budget development and fiscal management; basic accounting abilities; and applicable county laws and regulations is necessary.
Essential skills include; basic decision making where established procedures do not always apply, the ability to perform complex mathematical computations, computer operations along with various program applications related to word processing, spreadsheets, and desktop publishing, public relation skills, the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and the means to develop effective working relationships with professional health care personnel, elected officials, administrators, co-workers, and the public.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Health Physics, Biological Science, or other related field and seven years of progressively responsible experience performing the above and related duties. Special Qualifications must be a registered Environmental Health Scientist nationally or with the State of Utah*. Must complete and maintain EPA hazardous waste training (40-hour course).
Salary Range: $74,998.50 - $105,120.05 annually
