Assistant Professor (Tenure Track)
Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) at the University of Utah's Department of Biochemistry in SLC: Requires a Ph.D. in protein biochemistry and molecular biology and at least 24 months previous postdoctoral training; extensive expertise in molecular biology, protein expression, protein purification and general protein biochemistry and at least 24 months experience in: cone snail taxonomy and phylogeny, Conoidean venom collection and analysis, venom gland transcriptomics (RNA-sequencing, assembly, annotation and expression analysis), proteomics (top-down and bottom-up proteomics, de novo tandem MS sequencing, identification of post-translational modifications), drug discovery from venoms, and discovery and design of peptide drug leads for diabetes, pain and epilepsy. The Assistant Professor will teach and supervisor students; establish his/her own research program that focuses on the discovery and development of therapeutic compounds from a diverse range of animal venoms; publish and present research results; obtain extramural funding support; and contribute to administration and service.
